Our Construction Process

At Wood Stock Flooring, we take care over every detail of our wood flooring production to ensure a quality and consistency that is above the industry standard.

Before we use any of our lumber, it first undergoes our natural drying process, during which period we leave the wood to breathe and de-moisturize in a fresh air environment for no less than six months. This creates a far more durable, dimensionally stable finished product

To produce our remarkably beautiful finish, we apply a colourless, crystal clear finish in nine, progressive coats. This produces the exceptionally rich colours and textures that we achieve by allowing the natural luster of the wood to shine through in each of our exotic hardwood profiles. Tis extensive process produces a beautiful floor that needs minimal maintenance and does not require waxing.

Last of all, we apply a high performance Aluminium Oxide crystal layer, which delivers unprecedented scratch and abrasion resistance. Toughness is designed in to our floors to meet the requirements of commercial work spaces.

Our exotic wood species are already naturally durable because of the high performance and qualities of the sustainably sourced species that we use. However, we use our unique production techniques to improve upon these strengths to produce a consistently high standard that other floors simply cannot match. Constantly testing for quality during production, we measure abrasion, scratch resistance, impact, finish, adherence and adhere to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in all our production processes.

We supply three basic types of floorings for inside spaces:

  • 1- Solid floors are the classic style of wood flooring and these boards are simply cut from a single piece of wood. They are suitable for flooring where no moisture is present, such as in a room with no water source and which is above the ground level. Solid wood floors are not suitable for use with underfloor heating.
  • 2- Engineered on Solid includes a thin piece of hardwood superior layer above several layers of hardwood sublayer. Our surface layers are made from thinly cut planks of wood that are several millimeters thick. We sustainably reuse the offcuts from the cutting process to create cross-hatched layers of hardwood pieces, each one glued together in an alternating transverse and longitudinal pattern. This process is designed to improve performance and reduce costs.
  • Image 13- Engineered (on Eucalyptus + Hardwood Plywood) includes a thin piece of hardwood superior layer above a hardwood sublayer. Our surface layers are made from thinly cut planks of wood that are several millimeters thick. We then combine this with cross-hatched layers of mixed Eucalyptus and hardwood sawdust, the layers glued with the grain in an alternating transvers and longitudinal pattern. This process is designed to improve performance and reduce costs. Our Engineered Hardwood Floors display greatly improved performance under conditions of changing moisture or heat.

Venners

Our Eucalyptus plywood has superlative performance measurements compared to Russian Birch plywood. Russian Birch is not a species of tree or specific product but an industry-wide standard for high grade plywood. Eucalyptus is farmed at the manufacture properties and is significantly more sustainable product than birch. We are committed to the ethical guardianship of the world’s forests.
